Obituary
Herbert Ray Clifton, 91, of Dallas and Irving, Texas passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016. He was born October 23, 1924 in Bessemer, Alabama to Margie Viola Roland and James Robert Clifton. After high school graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II and then enrolled in The University of Alabama, graduating from Southern Methodist University in 1950. He married Alice Thresia Denyer on November 24, 1950 in Galveston, Texas. They had 2 daughters, Michele and Paula. Herb got his degree in Marketing and was a CPA, but made his living in Finance. He loved his family, playing golf, where he was a long time member of The Northwood Club, traveling and watching sports on TV. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alice; daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter, Paula, Alan and Allison Messimer; son-in-law Bob Voelker, and his children and grandchildren Garrett, Andrea and Emma Voelker and Katie and Chad Markland, Kacen Miller; friend Beverly Kirkpatrick; and many nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his daughter Michele Clifton Voelker and grandson Carson Clifton Messimer. Services will be held on Monday, August 1st at 11 am at Hackberry Creek Church in Irving, where he was a member. Please send the family condolences and sign the guest book on this site.
