Obituary
Cameren Cheri Givens was born on April 30, 2003, at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas to Valarie C. Givens and Ricky Jackson. Cameren departed from this life on August 26, 2016 peacefully in the arms of her mother at their home in McKinney, Texas, she was 13 years old.
Cameren was courageous and a very strong fighter during her life-long illness; an illness that meant most of her time was spent in and out of Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. During this time she touched so many lives across the globe. In her own way, Cameren kept faithful and strong…always giving you her big smile.
When her illness was under control, Cameren attended school. She first attended Centerville Elementary in Garland, then Keeley Elementary in Rowlett, and finally, Wester Middle School in Frisco, where she was known and loved by students and staff for her smile, her laugh, and her undeniable spirit. Cameren loved playing video games with her nephew Caiden and listening to her favorite artists, Michael Jackson and Taylor Swift. Later in her life Cameren developed a love for musicals and movies like Frozen and Annie.
Cameren will be missed by her mother, who devoted 13 years of her life to daily being right by Cameren’s side, as well as many other family and friends. Cameren is survived by her parents as well as her sister, Crystal Givens, and her brother, Christopher Givens, her three step-sisters, Breanica, Kayla, and Kyra Jackson, and her nephew, Caiden Givens, all of Texas. Cameren is also survived by her grandmother, Sarah Minor of El Dorado, Arkansas, her grandfather, Booker (Sadie) Minor, of Little Rock, Arkansas and a host of relatives and friends.
We all love you Cam-Cam. You will always be in our hearts.
A Celebration of Cameren’s life will be held at 4:00 P.M., Friday, September 2, 2016 at North Dallas Funeral Chapel located at 2710 Valley View Lane, Dallas, Texas 75234 with a reception to follow.

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

I never met Cameren, but everything I ever heard you say was how strong she was and that all powerful smile. I am so grateful that she will no longer be in pain.
