Fern was born on September 13, 1935 in Thomas, Oklahoma and set free from the bondage of ALS on September 10, 2016 in Richardson, Texas. Fern was a hard, sweet, and righteous lady. Fern served the Lord and her family as a Scout leader, youth group sponsor and in many other ways. She was active in the Christian Women’s Club, Bible Study Fellowship and numerous Bible studies in her churches. Fern served as an Elder in her church and as a Trustee for Phillips University. Her deeds and service bore witness of her faith to her family, friends and all she met. She was an avid reader and writer. She enjoyed gardening, home decorating and jewelry making. She loved making new friends and especially cherished babies and children. Despite the hardships of her afflictions, Fern remained joyful, loving, and filled with gratitude to the end. I don’t remember life before Fern. She fills my childhood memories. She was always a protector and lover. I have not seen her years but can distinctly hear her saying my name to this day. I will always treasure her. I am thankful for the way she loved me. I will miss her always.
