Obituary
Betty Anne Evans (Johnson) January 11, 1925 – September 25, 2016 Betty was born in Chicago, Ill to Reuben H Johnson and Alice V Johnson. She had one brother, Robert H Johnson who preceded her in death. She had many wonderful family stories about growing up in the ‘Windy City’, Lake Michigan and visiting the farms of relatives living in Iowa. She had many good friends throughout her life, and a lot of them were life long friends from childhood, always involved around Ebenezer Lutheran Church. People loved her kind caring spirit, compassion, understanding and her loving heart. Betty met Sam Evans in Chicago while he was on a business trip. They had a long distance romance until she finally decided to marry the native Texan. They were married for 52 years before Sam passed away in 2007. Over the years, they frequently traveled here and abroad, in addition hosted many festivities. Betty always volunteered to help with social and charitable activities. They had two daughters Georgia and Caroline. Betty was always involved in their life, whether it was leader extraordinaire for Campfire Girls, President of the church Women’s group or most importantly shepherding a bunch of kids to the ‘Bolivar Hilton’ and other places during the summer. She loved to have fun, with family and friends, but also she loved to play and care for children. Above all, Betty was the best friend, mom and grandmother to all the people in her life. All of those who knew her can tell you she was a great cook. Many can remember saying ‘Keep the pot boiling Betty we’ll bring the crabs”!! Betty you will be missed by all who knew you and your beautiful spirit. Betty is survived by her Daughters Georgia and husband Hunt Hodge & Caroline Evans Grandsons Christopher Hodge (Shaina), Jeffrey Hodge (Lauren) and Sam Bundy, Great granddaughters Nicole and Avery Hodge A Memorial Service will be held October 8, 2016 – 3:00pm at St Luke’s Lutheran Church 1210 W.
