Zrno, Barbara
Obituary
Barbara Zrno, 73 of Plano, TX passed away November 27, 2016 at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas. She was born an only child to an Army father and NJ Italian mother in 1943 at Camp Gordon, Georgia. As many military children did, Barbara spent most of her youth moving around stateside and abroad. She spent some of her youth in Morristown, New Jersey with her dearest Grandmother and cousins, and lived several years overseas in Munich and Augsburg, Germany and Okinawa, Japan. In 1963 while living near Fort Monmouth, New Jersey she met and married her beloved husband John. They went on to have three children and after many more moves the family arrived in Dallas, TX in 1982. It was here that Barbara was very happy to stay. Barbara was a voracious reader and a charter member of The 4th Wednesday Book Club. She was very active in the North Dallas Encore group as well as The Assistance League of Collin County. Barbara loved playing tennis and played with the same competitive team for many years. She enjoyed water and snow skiing, and was very active with several Canasta groups. She saw her three children graduate from Texas A&M and continued to cheer on the Aggies throughout her life. She was an excellent Italian cook. No one ever left her table hungry! Barbara remained very close to her extended NJ family, particularly her Aunt Grace and many NJ cousins and their families. Her most treasured memories are those of spending hours upon hours at her grandchildren’s sporting events, dance recitals, school plays and birthday parties. She was Grandma extraordinaire and a wonderful “Baba” to all her loving Grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family! Barbara is survived by her husband of 53 years, John, and her children Michele, Christine and Marko. She has 6 grandchildren Mitchell, Emily, Lauren, Jack, Kyra and Lila. A celebration in honor of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of ARIA Cremation Service and Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road Dallas, Texas 75252 214-306-6700
