Jones, Nobuko
Obituary
Nobuko “Linda” Jones-Tateishi passed away on March 6th 2017 in McKinney, Texas at the age of 83 years. She was born on July 12th 1933 in Tokyo, Japan where she was raised by her parents and sister through her primary and secondary education. Nobuko was a singer and entertainer for over 20 years before moving to the United States in the 1970’s. She kept busy as a stay at home mother for five years and then reentered the workforce where she spent 25 years in the service industry. Nobuko had a passion for music which she enjoyed expressing in her singing and love for entertaining. She was an avid sports fan who will be remembered for enjoying football, baseball and basketball by all who were close to her. She turned to her sports, soap operas and cooking as her pastimes of choice. Her strong faith as a practicing Buddhist and Soka Gakkai International was important to her although her greatest joy in life was her son, Tim. Nobuko was a loving mother to her only son, Timothy. The two of them had such an incredible, strong relationship that she moved from Sacramento, California to be nearer to him in Texas. She lived with Tim (or, as she often called him, Timmy) and his family for eight years where she spent her time loving on her grandchildren. Nobuko Jones-Tateishi is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Timothy Lee Jones, daughter-in-law, Kimberly Anne Jones, and her grandsons, Jordan Isiah Jones and Jayson Timothy Jones. Please consider making memorial donations in Nobuko’s name to a charity of your choice.
