Obituary

Kenny took his last breath in the twilight hours of Saturday, June 3, 2017, at his childhood home in Irving, TX.  He was 51 years old. The cause of death is known only to his Maker at this time. Kenny was born on September 22, 1965, at Methodist Hospital in Dallas, TX, to Patty and Bob Bolton. Bobby, having barely survived a 42’ fall, held his son for the first time with casts on his arms. Family life began by settling in Irving to recover with lots of help from grandparents. He and his sister, born 2.5 years later, grew up together, attended school and built life-long friendships in the Irving area. Kenny’s passion was being outdoors from a very early age. He loved riding his bike, climbing trees, swimming, fishing and playing all types of sports. He excelled in baseball and played for the YMCA as well as city leagues for many years.  Happy times with his dad included camping and fishing trips throughout his years in Boy Scouts. He loved the hunting trips and spending time with his Papaw Smith.  Kenny learned to play the violin, saxophone as well as guitar. He truly loved all genres of music. Above all he loved to make people laugh and was kind hearted. When his parents parted ways, he just wanted to save his dad from alcoholism. As soon as he finished high school he moved to DeSoto, TX, to live and work in the Bolton family construction business as an iron worker and welder. Instead of saving his dad, he was drawn into addiction. It Really began in high school experimenting with marijuana and alcohol then moving to pain killers and worse over the years. The biggest blessing of all is we know he was a Christian. He accepted Jesus Christ as is Lord and Savior and was baptized on January 13, 1985, at Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving.  He went on to marry twice and have three beautiful daughters. He later enjoyed working in the tree removal and lawn care business in southeast Texas as well as the DFW Metroplex area. Those left behind to remember Kenny’s life story are his daughter Autumn Brooks & her husband Tyler, daughter Karajean McCurdy & grandson Aiden, daughter Sarah McCurdy, his daughters’ mother Tina Bargas and their grandparents Chuck and Norma McCurdy, all of Mansfield, TX; Mother Patty Pannell, sister Kara Heflin & her husband Lee, niece Amber Heflin & her daughter Bria, niece Megan Heflin & her son Tre, all of Irving, TX; extended family are bonus sister Christie Rawson & her husband Mike, niece Amanda Rawson & her children Hunter, Braylen & Makayla; nephew Kody Rawson & wife Savannah & their son Paul; all of Mesquite, TX; maternal uncle Gary R. Smith of Irving, TX; paternal uncles Reggie, Steve, Randy & Terry Bolton & their respective families all in the DFW Metroplex area. Numerous cousins in Texas, Oklahoma & Iowa. The love of his life Debra Snyder of Tomball, TX, as well as numerous friends past & present.  Please know that the best part of Kenny loved each and everyone of you. This is an excerpt from a private message he sent to several of the people he cared for on Thursday, June 1, 2017:  “Search us, Oh GOD, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen!” I’ll hold you in my heart forever, love Mom      Please send the family condolences and sign the guest book on this site. Kenny,
You meant the world to me. You always made me laugh. You taught me how to cook pancakes, and even how to drive your truck and pull a loaded trailer. You took me fishin with you all of the time, and you supported all of my softball and band events. You were a huge part of my life, and I will cherish every memory we had together. I miss getting up at the butt crack of dawn and going to work with you. You taught me how to read a key map bettwr than anyone in my generation. Your brilliance always amazed me. I love you Uncle Kenny. You will always be in my heart. I will carry you with me, for the rest of my life.

    Your loving niece,
    Megan

While i have known Kenny for such a short time it is with great honor for me to call him a kind man and most of all a friend. Kenny had been my yard guy for the last couple of years. His professionalism was unmatched. I appreciate him being reliable and most of all a great human being. Thanks for the services you’ve provided for many people in the neighborhood.

"Nothing prepares you for the grief you go through when losing a child. I called this funeral home at 2:00 am broken and could barely talk. The amount of compassion and empathy they showed me immediately let me know I found the right place to cremate my son. I cannot thank them enough for their professionalism, SINCERE concern, and commitment to making sure my son was honored in the most respectful way. I hope this Funeral home values her as much as my family and I do."

"I can’t say enough about how helpful and professional Dusty Martin, the funeral director at the Aria Cremation location on NW Highway has been. From my initial call, he was kind and informative. My friend died at home while on hospice and she was picked up in about an hour after receiving the call from the hospice nurse. The person who arrived to pick her up was also very professional/respectful and allowed us to take as much time with her as we wished. When I met with Dusty the next day about arrangements, he explained the process and options available without being pushy or trying to “sell” extras. Throughout the process, he kept me informed and, for example, was careful to be certain I understood the cost of the obituary I wanted and offered some options for reducing that cost if I wished. When I stopped by for another reason and started talking about some of the problems I was having with the pictures and media I hoped to use at a memorial lunch I was planning, he not only listened patiently but offered technology advice and let me use his personal media player. I have had experience arranging cremations for four others using two other local companies, and this experience with Dusty at Aria has been by far the best one I have had."

"My Daddy’s service and our family experience at Aria Northwest Highway was truly blessed. Funeral Director Dustin Martin is the kind of person that you would like to see on a more regular basis – but in his industry – you hope to not see him that often. That being said – THANK YOU DUSTIN for your unending kindness, compassion and friendship through the process. Meeting you and discussing Dallas History, Find A Grave and my Dad’s lifelong contributions to the great City of Dallas was simply wonderful! In memory of my dad James A. Dodd, Sr. – I want to personally thank you and let you know that you made everything better in that moment. Your calling to “Be There” is spot on. Aria has a one in a million guy in you! Bling Blinky of TEXAS Shout Out: God Bless You!!"
