Obituary
A memorial service for Ruth Arlene Wass is scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Monday, July 17, 2017 at Prestonwood Court, 7001 W. Plano Parkway, Plano, Texas. Ms. Wass was born on April 30, 1923 to the late William E. and Della Asper Jones. Arlene was raised and lived in Newport, Pennsylvania for over 62 years. She was a graduate of Newport High school and played on the basketball team for four years. She worked as an office manager for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania State Health Department. She was a member of United Church of Christ in Newport as well as being active in the Order of the Amaranth and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was very talented and played the piano and organ by ear. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Geraldine Seeger, Gayle Bonawitz, Wayne Jones, and Norris Jones. She is survived by her son, Bill Wass and wife Carol of Santa Cruz, California; daughter, Marsha Marsele and friend, Joe Scott of Plano; grandchildren Andrea Wass and her husband, Scott Failor and great-grandchildren, Asha and Liam Failor-Wass; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Heart Association or to a Hospice of one’s choice.
