Phyllis D. Boysen, Age 88

Phyllis most recently passed peacefully on August 27, 2017 at her care facility in Plano, Texas.

Preceded in death by her parents, Merritt Vaughn Woodard, Sr., and Lorena Woodard; husband, Harry E. Boysen; brother, Merritt Vaughn Woodard, Jr.  She is survived by her three children, Phyllis (Larry) Tennison of Omaha, Nebraska; Harry (Sheri) Boysen of Parker, Texas and Cathy Boysen of Prairie Village, Kansas along with five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and other nieces and nephews.

She was born Phyllis Duane Woodard on November 6, 1928 to Merritt Vaughn Woodard and Lorena Pearl Woodard in Neosho, Missouri.  She married Harry E. Boysen on July 31, 1952 and enjoyed 57 years of marriage before Harry’s death following his battle with Alzheimers disease.  They were both residents of Neosho for 36 years.

Phyllis met Harry in 1949 in St. Louis at a church while attending a social hosting soldiers and single women in the area.   At the time, Harry was stationed at Scott Air Force Base in training for his deployment to Korea.  Phyllis completed her nursing program at City Hospital there earning her Registered Nurse certification.  She then worked in Denver as well as Sale Memorial Hospital in Neosho.

Phyllis will always be remembered for her sweet and gentle spirit.  She was beloved by all she came in contact with as a warm, loving and caring person.  She instilled these traits to her family and provided the family with wonderful lasting memories.  She holds a very special place in our hearts and will be missed dearly.
