Haag, Goldie
Obituary
Goldie Haag, of Richardson, Texas, passed away on November 20, 2017 at the age of 89. She was born on September 2, 1928 in Akron, Ohio to Pavel Balaj and Maria Ardelean Balaj of Talpos, Romania. The Balaj family immigrated to the United States for work in the late 1920’s, where two of the Balaj children, Goldie and her brother, Paul, were born. When the depression hit in 1929, the family moved back to Romania. When the only two American citizens of the family were of legal age, Goldie and Paul were sent back to the States in 1947 in hope of a better life. They settled in Detroit, Michigan, where they were both active in the First Romanian Baptist Church. The church became much more than a place of worship for Goldie; it was a community of family and friends that centered around a genuine faith in Jesus and was inspired by the Romanian cultural and environment that she was so comfortable with. As a wonderful cook with a flair for gardening, Goldie enjoyed sharing those talents with those she loved. Goldie would have described her life and tastes as simple, yet she left a remarkable legacy of faith in her family; the most important legacy of all. Goldie Haag is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Karl Haag, and by her brother, Paul Balaj. She is survived by her children; David Tuturea (Penny) and Marianne Roman (John), her grandchildren; Jennifer Ham, Mark Tuturea, Christie Craddock, and Julie Fritz, six great-grandchildren, as well as extended family and many dear friends.

Amen” Ephesians 3:20-21
