Obituary
Vicky Louise Sowards, of Carrollton, Texas, passed away on December 31, 2017 at the age of 91. Vicky was born on April 12, 1926 to Albert Beland and Magdalene Myers Beland in Riddick, Illinois. She grew up in Kankakee, IL with siblings; Donald, Delores, Bernice, Jerry, Doreen, Roger, and Ronnie. Vicky attended St. Joseph’s Seminary before moving to Sterling, Illinois in the 60’s. She went on to work at The Red Carpet as a waitress for 25 years before moving to Carrollton, TX so that she could be closer to her children. She loved spending time with children which made her a great fit working in the children’s ministry at St. Andrew’s Methodist Church for approximately 10 years before retiring at the age of 88. Vicky loved the Lord. She was dependable, hardworking, and will be remembered for being generous, unselfish, and self-sacrificing in order to help others. Vicky Louise Sowards is preceded in death by her parents and by her sister, Bernice Denault. She is survived by her sons and spouses; Nicholas Sowards, Van Sowards, Sandy Marx , and Jacquie Clark, ten grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, as well as extended family and dear friends.
