Wilson, Jimmy Howard
Obituary
Born September 22 in the year 1938, in the city of Indianola, Oklahoma passed away Saturday 07 April 2018 at the age of 79 Years. Jimmy, one of 10 siblings, grew up in, and graduated from Indianola High School where he as a successful forward for the Indianola Warriors basketball team. He enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 17, and served his country with both honor and distinction. Upon his medical discharge from military service, Jimmy began a career in purchasing with Dallas Airmotive in 1969, and later retired from Avial in 2001 as a valued and loved member of their purchasing department as their senior purchasing agent at Love Field in Dallas, Texas. In 1971 he met and married the love of his life Glenna and they spent 47 years of love and joy together building a life filled with family and togetherness. His home, his yard and garden and his neighbors meant the world to him. He was also a huge sports fan always supporting and sometimes showing great frustration with the Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks and his beloved Oklahoma Sooners. Jimmy never lost his love of rural life and fishing. He took several trips to Indianola Oklahoma every year to be with his family, especially his mother whom he loved very much. He would spend hours visiting with family and old friends. He loved his hometown and the people there very much. Talking and cutting up with his siblings and their children brought him great joy and much happiness and they all loved him dearly and the joy they brought to each other was a beautiful thing to behold. Jimmy built his life on the idea that we, as people, should always strive to help one another and be kind to one another; and he raised his children and grandchildren with a deep regard and the utmost respect for the importance of family and respect for all people. Always slow to anger and quick to empathize, Jimmy was beloved by all who had the good fortune to have known him. He was always surrounded by laughter and fun as his favorite thing in the world was to make others laugh and have a good time. His family, many friends and colleagues will always remember him fondly as the life of the party and a loyal and true friend and family member who could always be counted on when they needed him. His sense of humor and shenanigans were legendary and will be greatly missed by all. He is preceded in death by his father Lake Wilson and mother Eula Wilson; his brothers Lynn Earl Everett, Lake Ed Wilson, Carl Wilson, Ralph Everett, Juanita Conrad, Joy Harris and Paul Everett. He is survived by his wife Glenna, of Dallas; his sisters Dottie Lacey of Tannehill, Oklahoma and Frankie Bowden of Oklahoma City; children Joseph Brown, Matthew Bowers, Tim Wilson, and Cheryl Wilson of Texas; his grandchildren Sarah Maverick, Joshua Bowers, Amber Johnson and Frederick Thompson of Texas; and his Great-Grandchildren Anthony Johnson, Jordan and Taylor Bowers, Isabelle Harding, Isla Rose and Samuel Maverick of Texas.
