Richardson, Robert J.
Obituary
Robert J. Richardson, age 92, of Dallas, Texas passed away on May 16, 2018. Bob was born October 16, 1925 in Brookfield, Missouri to the late Avery Thomas Richardson and Evelyn Fern McNees Richardson. After high school graduation in 1944, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Forces to serve his country during WWII. At the end of the war, he took an honorable discharge, and enrolled at the University of Missouri at Columbia, where he met and married Betty Jean Winters, who remained his wife and the love of his life for the next 68 years. He graduated from Mizzou in 1949 with a degree in accounting, and he and Betty eventually settled in the St. Louis suburb of Webster Groves, where they raised five children. Bob had a successful financial management career that included positions of increasing responsibility with Standard Oil, Magic Chief, Mallinckrodt Chemical, Sisters of Charity Hospitals in St. Louis and Dallas, and finally the Comptrollership position at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, where he retired in 1993. During his time living in Webster Groves, Bob volunteered evening hours with Junior Achievement of St. Louis, helping young people learn the basics of business management. In spite of maintaining a demanding work schedule, he remained a very active family man, managing his sons’ little league baseball teams. After his retirement, he performed valuable work as a volunteer at Medical City Dallas Hospital. His favorite hobby was fishing, and his fondest memories were his annual fishing trips to Canada. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty Richardson, and two grandsons, Scott and Travis Richardson. He is survived by his children Brant Richardson, Dale Richardson, Stanley Richardson, Paul Richardson, and Jill Mazzola; grandchildren, Jean Mazzola, Jack Mazzola, Jesse Richardson, Jess Richardson, and Daniela Richardson; and one great granddaughter, Stella. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Sparkman Hillcrest Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of ARIA Cremation Service and Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road Dallas, Texas 75252 214-306-6700
