Dominy, Mark Brian
Obituary
Mark passed away May 6 and is sitting with Jesus. There was a celebration of his life and a memorial and burial will be in Alabama, date pending. He was a wonderful little boy and grew into a fine man. Graduating from Duncanville High School, he was first team all state in soccer for 3 years (this has not been done since) and attended The University of North Texas on a soccer scholarship, graduating in 1997. Mark’s accolades were numerous, he was unassuming and never took the awards seriously, but as a person, he made so many people feel special. He was genuine, honest, witty and had an infectious laugh that we will never forget. Until we meet again in heaven, in the words of E.E. Cummings “I carry your heart with me. I carry it in my heart”. Mark is survived by his parents, Jerry and Carolyn Dominy; brothers and sisters-in-law Steve and Candy Dominy and Jeff and Amanda Dominy. Aunts and uncles Rick and Kay Armour, James and Susan Dominy and Kenneth and Robin Dominy. Also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. A special thanks to Rick, Kay, Kelly, Natalie, James, Susan, Matt, Josh, Brett and Cameron. Your support and love for Mark is beyond words and will always be a comfort for us. His light is shining down on us, sending love in return. A soccer scholarship has been set up at UNT benefiting the soccer programs. See the information below. For those of you that were not able to attend the Celebration of Life or I did not collect your email, the Mark Dominy Memorial Soccer Scholarship Fund is now online and donations can be made via https://one.unt.edu/markdominymemorialfund or click the link below. All donations are tax deductible. Donations are also eligible for employer match if your employer matches charitable contributions. Once the fund reaches $25,000, a soccer scholarship at UNT will be permanently endowed as the “Mark Dominy Memorial Soccer Scholarship” and leave a lasting legacy of Mark’s love for the sport of soccer. We plan to hold several other fundraisers throughout the year to have the fund reach $25,000.
