Leal, Irma
Obituary
Irma Leal was born in San Benito, TX on March 19, 1941 and passed away in Dallas, TX on June 25, 2018 surrounded by those she held most near and dear to her heart. She is preceded in death by her mother, Felacitas Esquivel. Brother, Gregorio Martinez. Sisters, Ninfa Rodriguez and Naomi Rodriguez. And beloved pet Chico. Irma is survived by her husband of 58 years, Benito Leal. Also, daughter, Norma Gonzales and husband Gerry Gonzales; daughter, Cynthia Santos and husband, Javier Santos; daughter, Criselda Leal; son, Alfredo Leal. Grandchildren: Bryan Gonzales, Erica Santos, Dominique Chavez, Renee Gonzales, Nicholas Santos, Jerrica Chavez, Jessica Gonzales, and Jacob Santos. Great Grandchildren – Alex Gonzales, Jocelyn Gonzales, Madison Gomez, Easton Santos, Emilia Santos, Analeah Chavez, Victoria Chavez, and Bella Chavez. Brother David Esquivel and Beto Esquivel. Irma had a strong Catholic faith and instilled these values and beliefs in the Lord to her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the St. Matthew Catholic Church in Arlington, TX. Family was very important to Irma. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to running her household and raising her children. She was also very involved with raising her grandchildren and was even the unofficial “daycare” for all her grandchildren as they were growing up. Irma loved to show her support by regularly attending her grandchildren’s school and sporting events. She was their biggest fan! She loved to cook and her specialties included tortillas, beans, and apple cake (although really everything she cooked was delicious). Irma also had a special place in her heart for her favorite baseball team: the Texas Rangers. She was a loyal fan and loved visiting the ballpark and watching their games on tv. One of her favorite foods were the hotdogs at the ballpark! All were always welcome in her home. She was the matriarch of her family and would host holidays at her home frequently. She absolutely loved being surrounded her family. Irma always took care of others, before taking care of herself. Irma will be missed tremendously by all who knew her. May she rest in peace and guide us from Heaven for the rest of our journeys. A public visitation will be held on Friday, June 29th 2018, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Mass of Catholic Burial will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at 10:00 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2021 New York Avenue, Arlington, TX 76010. Please send the family condolences and sign the guestbook on this site. Arrangements are under the direction of: Aria Cremation Service & Funeral Home 1820 N. Irma Leal we know you are sitting with the angels. What an extraordinary example you were for your family and friends and what a honor it was to know you. Thank you for your prayers and blessings throughout the years. God bless you and your precious family. We love you all so.
|God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put his arms around you and whispered “come to me”. |We had to say our goodbyes this week to an amazing person and the rock to the family, Nick’s grandma Irma. The babies brightened her last days by singing worship songs for her and she loved having her family surrounding her with love. Grandma was a true believer and instilled faith into the entire family. I’m so thankful she gave us her homemade recipes as a wedding gift, so we can always have her presence with us around the dinner table when we attempt to recreate her favorite dishes. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” Until we meet again grandma! We miss you deeply.

My heart goes out to my uncle Benny and her kids/grandkids. I loved my aunt Irma very much and some of the best memories of my childhood was at her house when we would visit Texas. I know it isn’t much but I’m so glad I got to hear your voice one last time. I know you’ll be watching over us, especially your husband that loved you so dear and your kids that miss their mom/grandma. Until we meet again Aunt Irma.
