Obituary
Phyllis E. Heinz of Plano, TX, passed away on August 25, 2018 at the age of 95. Born in Manlius, IL on April 8, 1923, she married Frank J. Burke in 1947, and resided in Peoria, IL. Following his death in 1973, she married O. Frank Heinz in 1976 in Peoria, IL. They traveled extensively, and maintained a second home in Sarasota, FL, where he died in 1989. She was also preceded in death by her devoted friend of over 22 years, Stan Kussy of Dallas. Phyllis is survived by one son, Thomas S. Burke of Plano, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Bernadine Coburn. Phyllis received her Bachelor and Master Degrees in nursing from Bradley University in Peoria, IL. She served on the faculty of Methodist Hospital School of Nursing and Bradley University in the College of Nursing. Upon moving to Dallas, TX in 1989, Phyllis was a member of the Dallas Symphony League, Susan G. Komen Foundation, Dallas Museum of Art, Northwood Women’s Club, Encore Club, Bent Tree Country Club (where she loved playing golf and bridge), and King of Glory Lutheran Church. A private service will be held at King of Glory Lutheran Church where Phyllis will be inurned in the columbarium. Dear Tom,
Please accept Dick’s and my deepest sympathy on the death of your mother. She was a charming woman whose company we often enjoyed here at highland Springs.
She and I were also in the Nurses’ Club here and she had some interesting anecdotes to tell about her career.
