Ross, Gerald R.
Obituary
A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Jerry Ross, 75, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home December 2, 2018 with his family present. He had bravely confronted and fought cancer. He was born on April 1, 1943 in Rochester, NY. His great sense of humor must have started then. Jerry drove a truck for Kodak in the upstate NY area for 30 years. During this time he also managed his own farm with over 40 dairy cows. In his spare time, he enjoyed raising and showing Checkered Giant rabbits, golden retrievers and chickens. Later, he sold his farm to drive truck cross country. He retired in 2010 and moved to Texas to be closer to family. He is survived by his wife, Kay Ross; son, Mike Ross; daughters Becky Atmakur and Jamie Livingston; grandchildren Megan, Katie, Lizzy and Rahzie; brother Kenny Ross; and cousin Barbara Welles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Laura Ross; first wife, Ann Chika; and sister, Dianne Hainesworth. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2018, at Messiah Lutheran Church, Plano, Texas. “Whoever lives by believing in me, will never die.” John 11:26. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to the church he loved, Messiah Lutheran Church, 1800 W. Plano Parkway, Plano TX 75075.

Jerry became a dear friend through the rabbit community. Lisa and I loved him and will miss his great smile, his sense of humor and his warm way of greeting everyone. We were blessed to share what time we could on “this earth, our island home.” Sing with the angels dear friend.
