Grisham, Tolbert
Obituary
Tolbert Grisham, 87, entered Heaven’s gates early Monday morning, November 3, 2014 at his home with his loving wife holding his hand until the end. Tolbert was born on March 29, 1927 in Winters, Texas to Lige Rastus Grisham and Nancy Elizabeth Pittman Grisham. He worked on the family cotton farm until 1945 when he was drafted in the Marine Corps. When Tolbert returned home from the War, he married his high school sweetheart, Billye Myrhl Corley. They married on September 27, 1947 and just celebrated 67 wonderful years of marriage. Tolbert and Billye lived in Abilene, Lubbock and Big Spring Texas. In Big Spring they owned their home for 50 years. Tolbert was employed as an Optician until 1982. Then Tolbert and Billye began Creative Celebration, a wedding catering business. Tolbert was the chief cake baker and icing maker. They did this for 25 years and retired. They moved to the Wellington in 2008 and developed many new friendships. Tolbert spent most of his free time dumpster diving and collecting golf balls. He would take the things he collected from the dumpster and fix them up to give away. He loved spending time with his beautiful bride, three children and 13 grandchildren. Tolbert is survived by his wife Billye, his sister Totsie, his three children Carla, Roger, Paige, seven grandchildren, Jason, Stephini, Kimberly, Chelsea, Robin, Amber and Paden and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Mauree, Tinkney, Dole and Pete. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather but most of all a strong Christian man who loved the Lord with all his heart. We are all blessed to have had his joy and love in our life. He will be missed but we have the promise from our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ that we will see him again. Please send the family condolences and sign the guest book on this site. I was so saddened to hear of Mr. Grisham’s passing. I worked with him at Malone & Hogan Clinic. I have such great memories of those days. He was one of the kindest men I have ever known. My prayers will be with the family.
