Hushfield, Jr., Edward D.
Obituary
Edward Daniel “Dan” Hushfield Jr., age 86, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015. He was born on June 24, 1928 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a loving and devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather.
Dan grew up on a farm near Morgan City, LA. As a young adult he had a variety of jobs including working on shrimp boats in the Gulf and assistant manager for a grocery store. He then served in the Air Force for 4 years. It was during his time in the Air Force that he met and married his wife of 58 years, Alberta Hushfield. Dan spent most of his career working for International Harvester as a Financial Manager. Subsequent to this he worked for a manufacturing company as the Corporate Controller.
Dan was very active in the church during his life including many years working with the Youth Group as well as serving as an Usher. His faith was the most important thing in his life and he set a great example for all who knew him.
He was very passionate about golf and played as often as he was able to. Dan also enjoyed watching sports and was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. He loved to joke and tease and continued to do so even through the end, joking with the hospital staff during some very difficult times.
Dan has been reunited in heaven with his wife, Alberta Hushfield, who preceded him in death. Dan is survived by his sons, Jeff Hushfield of Plano Texas, and Eddie Hushfield of Richardson, Texas, and daughter, Joan Matz of Naranjal, Costa Rica. He also leaves behind four grandchildren Jason Morales, Mitchell Hushfield, Allison Morales and Eric Hushfield.
Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday February 3, 2015 at Richardson Church of the Nazarene, 2101 E. Renner Road in Richardson, Texas.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Dan’s honor to Meals on Wheels Collin County (www.mowcc.com), 600 North Tennessee Street, McKinney, Texas 75069.

Thoughts and prayers for the family.
Sorry to hear of your dad’s passing, Jeff, but like my mom after my dad died, he’s now where he really wanted to be, and happier than ever! So while there may be an “empty place” in yours and your family’s hearts and kitchen table, he is now where he has wanted to be for a long time! I hope that will eventually if not now give all of you reason to be joyful for him! May GOD bless you and comfort you all in the loss of your dad!

My most heartfelt condolences to the family. My prayers have been said for your comfort and peace during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
GREAT photos and very well done obituary, y’all. I’ll be sharing this link on my timeline on Facebook. I love the photo of your folks with Dan in uniform. I wasn’t aware, or, more likely, forgot, about his time in the Air Force. The family photo is priceless! Y’all are in our thoughts and prayers today. P.S. in keeping with Dan’s amazing since of humor….THANKS for omitting his “season of life” where he rooted so passionately for his beloved “Bungles”. Your Cowboy’s fan reference is testament to our God’s redeeming power!! 🙂 Seriously, as I’ve said before, your Dad and Mom were truly “one of a kind”. They blessed many. I’m confident they have now heard those longed for words by all our brothers and sisters in Christ, “Well Done!”. We love all y’all.
We so love Dan (can’t say his name without Alberta’s name flowing next), and all of you, Jeff, Eddie, and Joan! Praying for you all, from here in Georgia. Your folks touched my life forever because they did so with God’s grace. Bless you!
Our church family at FCOG loved and respected the Hushfield family. May God comfort you as you go through this time of loss. I know it is Heaven’s gain as Alberta and Dan are together again.
My fondest memories of Dan (and I have plenty) revolve around us teaching the junior high Sunday school class together. He connected so well with the kids, and his love for them was obvious. What a godly heritage he created for those who followed.
So grateful for the godly example of both Dan and Alberta and for the love & belief they shared with so many of us over the years. Heaven’s getting sweeter all the time! Bless you all.
I am so sorry For your loss ..You and Family are always in my Prayers ..Just remember …
2 CORINTHIANS 5:8 …… We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. Love You Jeff
