FISHER, JERRY S.
Obituary
Jerry Sue Rees Fisher was born on November 18, 1938 and peacefully left this earth to be with her heavenly father on January 31, 2016 at the age of 77. Jerry was born in Colorado City, Texas where she lived with her parents Aaron Lewis Rees and Maureen Bell Rees. At the age of 15, the family moved to Stigler, Oklahoma where they made their home on a small cattle ranch in the beautiful San Bois Mountains. She met her soon to be husband, Charles Fisher, shortly after their arrival in Stigler. On December 21, 1956 Jerry and Charles were married in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. They moved to Dallas 10 days later, on New Year’s Eve 1956 where Charles had a job lined up. They made their home in Mesquite, Texas where they raised two children, Rochelle and Kyle. Jerry was a homemaker who loved being at home to take care of her family. She volunteered for several organizations over the years including PTA, the Dallas Zoo, Mesquite Medical Center (now Dallas Regional Hospital), church activities, and the Dallas Family Shelter where she was recognized for her service as “Volunteer of the Year” in 1988 and 1989. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, Charles Fisher, daughter and son-in-law, Rochelle and Lee Smith, son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Kim Fisher, four grandsons, Nate and his wife Jennifer, Bradley, Jake and Luke, and three precious great-granddaughters, Mackenzie, Kate and Lillian. Services for Jerry will take place on Friday, February 12, 2016; a graveside service will be conducted at 9:30 AM at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas, and a memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 AM, in the sanctuary of Eastridge Park Christian Church, 2701 N. Town East Blvd., Mesquite, Tx 75150, (972)-279-7201.
