Obituary
James Robert Johnson passed away peacefully on February 7, 2016 in Dallas, Texas.
He was born on July 29, 1929 in Fairfax, OK, and his family moved to Holdenville, OK
where he graduated from high school. He served during the Korean War in the
Armored Tank Division stationed in Germany from 1950 to 1952 and subsequently
graduated from Texas Tech University with a B. A. degree in geology in 1959.
He married Joyce Ann Dittberner of Panhandle, TX on April 23,1955 in White Deer, TX.
Jim and Joyce relocated several times during Jim’s career from Lubbock to Amarillo,
Dallas, Overland Park, KS, Barrington, IL and back to the Dallas area during his
successful career in sales and marketing for a major supplier to independent telephone
companies within the telecommunication industry. Finally, he and Joyce moved to
Keowee Key, SC in 1994 and after a few more years as a consultant he retired and
enjoyed having more time for golf, boating, fishing and picked up the art of carving
songbirds. Jim and Joyce returned to Dallas in the fall of 2014.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce of Dallas, son, Jay Kelly Johnson, a daughter,
Karla Jean Peterson both of Dallas, two granddaughters, Lauren Ashley Peterson of
Washington, D.C., and Anne Katherine Peterson, also of Dallas, TX.A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at CC Young, 4847 West Lawther Drive, Dallas,
TX 75214 in the East Lawther Building Chapel on the 2
nd Floor at 2:00 PM on Saturday,
February 13 with a reception immediately following.
