Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Donald L. Kilmer, 74, announces his passing at his home surrounded by his family on February 27, 2018 after a brief battle with brain cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Marcites Kilmer and his sister, Joyce Kilmer. He is survived by Julia, his devoted wife of 51 years; his daughter Kristina Kilmer-Moat and her husband Sean; his son Michael Kilmer; grandsons Austin and Landon Kilmer; as well as his sister Jeannie Carpenter and niece Dawne Chandler. Don was born in Paris, TX, and graduated from Kimball High School in Dallas. He was a Vietnam Era Army Veteran, serving in Germany. His working career included ARCO, Occidental, and American Flood Research. He was a gifted artist who produced exquisite brass sculptures, wooden pieces, and many black and white pictures on canvas. He was also a wonderful photographer as well as an enthusiastic classic car collector and restorer, and built race cars. His final art project resulted in stunning replicas of Native American Kachina dolls.
Celebration of his life will be held on March 10, 2018 at Lakepointe-Firewheel Church, 1201 E. Campbell, Garland, TX. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m.; service at 10:30 a.m.
