Obituary
Jane Thompson Spears (95) passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Juliette Fowler Homes in Dallas, Texas. Born May 27, 1923, in Corsicana, Texas, Jane was the daughter of Rebecca (Bexie) Gibbs of Kaufman, Texas, and John Allen Thompson, Jr. of Corsicana. She lived in the Dallas area most of her life, graduated from North Dallas High School in January 1941, and attended business college at Dallas College of Southern Methodist University. In January 23, 1948, she married George Harrison Spears, Jr. of Belton, Texas. They lived in Waco seven years before moving to Dallas and later to Richardson, where they resided 28 years. Upon her retirement from Richardson Independent School District, she and George moved to Hico, Texas, where Jane served as secretary at First United Methodist Church for a number of years. In the last years of her life, Jane lived at Juliette Fowler Homes in Dallas. She is survived by her sons Mark Thompson Spears (JoAnne Sheehan) of Dallas and David Anderson Spears (Jody Lockshin) of Austin, as well as her daughter Rebecca Spears of Nacogdoches, five grandchildren: Stephen Spears, Alex Spears, Paul Schwartz, Claire Schwartz, and Andrea Schwartz, and two great-grandchildren, Maggie and Seth Schwartz. She is preceded in death by her husband George Spears, her son Craig Harrison Spears, and her brother John Gibbs Thompson.
A memorial service will take place at 1:00 pm, Saturday, August 4, 2018, in the Schneider Chapel at Pearl Nordan Care Center, Juliette Fowler Homes, 1260 Abrams Rd., Dallas, TX 75214.
