Admired and loved by many, Jill left this earth on December 21, 2017, after just turning a remarkable 80 years old on December 18th. A born leader, Jill spent her entire life giving her time and resources back to the clubs and organizations she loved- starting with her involvement with the Lakewood Preschool PTA, where she served as President. Over the years, Jill was involved in many endeavors in the Dallas area, serving as Board Member or President in most of these worthy causes, including Camp Fire Girls/Bluebirds, Bard and Ballad Book Club, Lakewood Botanical Society, Dallas Arboretum, Dallas Womans Forum, Dallas Theater Center Guild, Dallas Opera Guild and the Dallas Museum of Art League. She had a giving heart and dedicated herself to helping those less fortunate, including supporting a family in Zimbabwe. Her friendship and generosity knew no bounds. Jill and her husband Al enjoyed traveling the world, and were blessed to be able to visit all seven continents. Paris was her first love, and over the years they were able to take many trips to France. Her friends, world-wide, loved and appreciated her kindnesses. Jill had a passion for needlework, and enjoyed French sewing by hand, as well as all types of needlepoint and embroidery. Her enthusiasm for all kinds of sewing took her on many adventures around the country, as well as classes and seminars in Australia and Belgium. She truly enjoyed making new friends while learning new techniques. When a celebration was needed, Jill was just the person to offer to host the event, and especially loved having birthday parties, showers, dinner parties, book signings, and even a Christening in their home. In spite of declining mobility in recent years, her enthusiasm for life was never dampened, and no matter how difficult the circumstances, she still wanted to continue giving and doing for others. Her joie de vivre gave her great energy, and she was the first one to embrace all the new adventures awaiting her, her friends, and loved ones. She will be missed by many, and we wish her a bon voyage until we meet again. Jill was born in Weatherford, Texas, and was preceded in death by her parents, Alma Faye and Syl Taylor Smart, her brother Jack, and beloved daughter Natalie Anderson Carson. She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Al Anderson, her children- Joslyn Crews (Robin), Kristen Breeden (David), and Trey Anderson, many relatives, grandchildren, and grandfriends!
