Sidney Vincent Anderson, known to friends as "Sid," passed away on June 24th, 2018 at the age of 75 years after a year-long battle with cancer. A native of San Antonio and Plano, TX, Sid graduated from Jefferson High in San Antonio in 1961. He joined the United States Coast Guard in 1963 and spent 8 years in the Coast Guard Reserves, where he dutifully served his country as a port security specialist, third class. He received an honorable discharge in 1971. In 1971, he moved his family from San Antonio to Plano, TX where he began a long and successful career as a manufacturer's representative in the textile industry. He worked for several companies from 1971 to 1994, but perhaps his greatest achievement was the creation of his own company, SVA Sales, in 1995 that thrived for 20 years until the time of his retirement in 2015. He was a great lover of sports, especially football and soccer, and had a great passion for old cars. His favorites were the coupes and sedans of the 30's and 40's and the Cadillacs of the 50's. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elaine (Belmont), son Brian (Melanie) and Daughter Lisa, Brother Freddie (Marsha), and nephews Chris (Angie) and Brady (Jane). A Celebration of Sid's life will be held at 10:30 am, on Thursday, July 12th, at the Plano Mutual Cemetery, 2128 18th St., Plano, TX 75074.
