Andrew Crawford, age 98, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully at 4:40 pm on April 28th, 2026.
Born on August 20, 1927, in Dixie, Louisiana, Andrew was the son of Ada D. Crawford and Alonzo Crawford. He lived a long and meaningful life marked by strength, resilience, devotion to family, and service to his country.
Andrew proudly served in the Army Reserve and the United States Navy, honoring his nation through military service and carrying that spirit of dedication throughout his life.
In the latter part of his life, Andrew made Dallas, Texas his home, where he continued building lasting memories with family and loved ones. Andrew enjoyed spending time with his siblings and cherished moments shared with his younger brothers and sisters-in-law. During the years he lived in California, he enjoyed gathering to play dominoes on Fridays and Saturdays. Sundays were devoted to attending church, often followed by a game of dominoes, reflecting the faith, fellowship, and family connections that remained an important part of his life.
During his final years, Andrew was lovingly cared for by his daughter, Elizabeth Crawford, along with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose love, support, and devotion surrounded him until his passing.
Andrew was preceded in death by the love of his life, Annie Mae Crawford; his son, Derek Andrew Crawford; his parents, Ada Crawford and Alonzo Crawford; and his siblings, George Crawford, Alonza Crawford, Issac Crawford, Elnora Crawford Casey Joseph Crawford, , Jonas Crawford, Nathaniel Crawford, Lorenzo Crawford, and Clydell Crawford.
Andrew is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jean Crawford who he later married; his daughter, Joan Hawkins; his sons, Dolph Dixon and Ray Dixon; his daughters, Evelyn Crawford and Elizabeth Crawford; his loving sister, Geraldine Crawford Tell; along with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; extended family members; and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Andrew's life was one of faith, dedication, perseverance, and love. He found joy in family gatherings, simple moments shared with loved ones, and living a life grounded in faith and community. His memory and legacy will continue through the generations of family who loved him and the many lives he touched.
The family extends a special thank you to Tamiko McElroy and Tuesday Crawford for their love, support, and kindness. Your care, compassion, and unwavering support will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.
