Anne Louise Hinson Boswell, cherished wife, mother and friend, was born in Asheville, NC, and she passed peacefully to her eternal home on January 31, 2022. After graduating from Asheville High School, she attended Asheville-Biltmore College where she focused on her love for history and the performing arts. In 1945, a beautiful, wartime romance began at a USO church dance and resulted in her 54-year marriage to Milton Boswell. In Dallas, they celebrated the birth of their three children while Milton began his lifelong career with the Texas Bankers Association. Romantics at heart, they shared a love for faith and family, nature, the arts, antiquing, classic film and travel adventures around the world. Anne was also actively involved in Marianne Scruggs Garden Club, The Dallas Woman's Club, DAR and Highland Park Methodist Church. In 1965, they moved to Austin where she served enthusiastically in the Austin Woman's Club, Heritage Society-Preservation Austin, The Settlement Club Home for Children, Women's Symphony League, DAR, Colonial Dames and Grace Covenant Church. With her love for American history, she felt deeply honored to serve on the U.S. Bicentennial Commission which later honored Anne for her visionary leadership and extensive work in historic preservation. As a docent at the Governor's Mansion, she poured her heart into telling stories about Texas, and she also inspired students for decades at Austin elementary schools and UT Army ROTC ceremonies when speaking about the founding fathers and preserving our freedoms. Anne loved all things kind and beautiful, and with gracious hospitality, she always enjoyed welcoming friends and family into her lovely home and gardens. She was known for her vivacious, fun-loving spirit; her wonderful sense of style and creative flair; her delightful laughter and sense of humor; and joyful enthusiasm for interior design, genealogy, landscape oil painting and her Readers Guild. Anne is survived by her children John Boswell, Liz Moore and Gayle Davidson; five grandchildren Sarah Wymer, Beth Bender, Amy Castro, John David Boswell, Jr. and Kathleen Davidson; and ten great-grandchildren. She will be buried beside her beloved husband at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. Her Celebration of Life will be held at Church of the Holy Communion Anglican Cathedral, 17405 Muirfield Dr. in Dallas on February 26 at 2 PM. Anne lived a wonderful life, and she will be dearly missed. Gifts in her name can be made to The Salvation Army or the charity of your choice.
