Robert (Bob) Wayne Athey passed from time to eternity on Friday July 25, 2014. He was born on November 4, 1942 in Ft. Worth, Texas the oldest son of Woodrow Winfred Athey (b 11/12/1918 - d 11/25/1994) and Ima Malachi McLain (b.12/29/1918 - d. 4/07/2004). He married Barbara Jeanne Savidis of Idaho Falls, Idaho in Salem, Oregon on August 29, 1964. They have four sons: Geoffrey Paul and his wife Beth Wilder of Rowlett, Texas, John Robert and his wife Dee Geiger of Elkridge, Maryland, Jason Benjamin his wife Meredith Bradford and their daughter Hannah of Sherman, Texas, and a foster son Kenneth Dahms of Rowlett, Texas. Mr. Athey is also survived by his brother Billy Jack Athey and his wife Rhonda of Lewisville, and their children and families.
In his professional career Bob built his own company doing remodeling and building homes in Oklahoma City and Grayson County, TX. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Dallas in Cultural Anthropology and received a Master of Science Degree from UTD. Mr. Athey moved to New York in 1990 as a consultant with an engineering firm headquartered in Lawrence, Kansas. He was soon commissioned as a direct consultant for Mitsui Fudosan America as Director of Capital Programs primarily in New York City. The Atheys spent the next 20 years living there and traveling across the country. When they retired they returned to Dallas, Texas where they continued to enjoy travel, reading and being with family.
A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held Monday July 28th at 11:00 AM at Bentwood Trail Presbyterian Church, Dallas, Texas. Memorials may be made to the church or the North Texas Food Bank
