Audrey Levin Greene, whose life joined family devotion, creative reinvention, and an enduring gift for design, was born May 17, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York, to Pearl and Leon Levin, and died September 23, 2026.

Audrey graduated from George Wingate High School in Brooklyn and from Hunter College in New York City, where she majored in Audiology. She received a graduate scholarship to study Audiology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and earned an M.S. in Audiology in 1965.

While studying at Case Western Reserve, she met her future husband, James "Jim" Greene; they were married in December 1965 at the Levin family home in Brooklyn.

The Greene family moved to Dallas in 1970, when Jim transferred to the Dallas office of BBDO. When he later opened an advertising agency, Audrey worked alongside him while raising their two young daughters: Elizabeth, born in Cleveland in 1967, and Margaret, born in Dallas in 1970.

In the early 1980s, Audrey began a new chapter as co-owner with Jim of Shannon Lane Fabrics, a retail business selling designer dress fabrics that expanded to stores in Dallas and Houston before closing at the end of the decade.

Audrey's sewing skill and extraordinary design talent soon led her into manufacturing through the family corporation, Creative Associates. There she created two popular wholesale products— designer kitchen gloves and, later, designer shower caps-which she sold to retail stores throughout the United States and to Fortnum & Mason in London.

That creative through-line continued across an unusually varied body of work: painted pots, woven rugs, handmade multicolored wood side tables, and richly textured wool sweaters she designed and wove for herself. Her final project was a collection of mixed-media artwork now on display at Ziziki's Restaurant in Travis Walk in Dallas.

What had once seemed like dormant talent became one of the defining expressions of Audrey's life: precise, colorful, inventive, and deeply personal. She undoubtedly inherited some of those gifts from her maternal grandfather, who worked as a designer and tailor for Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City.

Audrey and Jim enjoyed more than 60 years of marriage, much of it spent working side by side. They loved traveling throughout Europe, especially to London, and spent summers with their family at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

In her later years, Audrey suffered from Alzheimer's disease, but the beauty she made and the family she cherished remain lasting expressions of her life. She is survived by her husband, her two daughters, son-in-law John May, two grandchildren, Levi and Liberty May, her sister Harriet Berklehammer, her niece, and three nephews.
