Obituary

James Edwin Axtell "Poppa" Jim was a kind loving person who gave everything to everyone and was always there when you asked for help. He was a US Navy vet who served during the Vietnam War. After his Honorable Discharge, he went to trade school where he became a draftsman and also met his wife of 38 years, Vicki, who he dearly loved. After school and their marriage, he worked in Denver including with the United States Geographical Survey. Jim loved being outdoors with Vicki. He loved camping, fishing and traveling throughout the Rockies. He also loved his Christian faith, cards, country music, Zane Gray western novels and especially puzzles. He was kind and had an infectious laugh! He is survived by his daughter, sons, brother, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren, in-laws, "out-laws" and dear friends. We love you Poppa and you will be missed! Thanks to everyone, friends, family and members of the Prairie Creek Baptist Church, for your kindness and prayers. A memorial will be held for Jim this summer 2014 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, where he will be interned as will his sweet wife Vicki, who will rest alongside him.
