Mary Virginia (White) Baker beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away May 4th, 2017 at age 86 in her home in Carrollton. She was born in Texarkana, TX and graduated from Alvin high school in Alvin, TX. She attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX where she met her future husband of 59 years, Paul Kern Baker. Proceeded in death by her parents, Reverend Jester White and his wife Pauline, her husband Paul Kern Baker and her son Michael Stewart Baker. Survived by her sons Kern Baker and David Baker. Daughters-in-law Jane Baker, Ann Baker and Rosemary Baker. Grandchildren Emily Falconer and her husband Russ, Michael Baker and his wife Rebecca, David Baker and his wife Autumn and Kelsey Baker. Great grandchildren Luke Falconer, Lila Falconer and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. While attending Southwestern University Mary pledged the ADPi sorority and was delighted that her granddaughter Kelsey followed in her footsteps joining the same chapter at Southwestern. Her granddaughter Emily was also an ADPi member at UNT. Mary was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and served in a variety of capacities at the state and local level. She loved music and the adventure of travel. Mary and her late husband Paul attend numerous banjo and barbershop festivals. In their retirement years they enjoyed traveling to many different states and countries around the world. She was blessed by her friendships and family, especially her many cousins, who she considered her brothers and sisters. She was known for her smile and her great sense of humor, and her devotion to friends and family alike. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Sonoma House and Faith Hospices for their help and support. In keeping with her wishes a memorial services will be held on Wednesday May 17th in Cox Chapel Highland Park United Methodist Church at 1:00 pm, reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church or to the charity of your choice.
