Barbara J.
Kuegele
Dec 13, 1947 — Dec 28, 2024
Barbara Jean Kuegele was born on December 13, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri at the Lutheran hospital on South Jefferson. She was a gift of God to her parents, Ervin, and Ella Fauth. She was born again a chosen and redeemed child of God in Holy Baptism and instructed in the Christian faith, confirmed at St. Stephens Evangelical, and Reformed Church.
Barb grew up in North St. Louis where she enjoyed playing with cousins, putting on neighborhood parades with friends, and spending quality time with family playing board games. Every summer the family would gather for an annual family reunion at a local park. Barb participated in junior tap, ballet and baton and would perform on the old riverboat on the Mississippi. Alongside her sister Kathy, Barb was an active member in Girl Scouts for many years. Barb was known for always being a happy kid with a smile on her face. Barb's greatest goal in life was to become a mom. She started high school at Beaumont High School but soon transferred to the newer high school closer to her house. She graduated from Northwest High School in 1965. After graduation, she went to Miss Hickeys Business School where she was trained as a professional secretary.
In the summer of 1968, Barb traveled to Fort Worth to visit with her childhood best friend, Terry. Little did she know that she would meet her future husband that day. Paul Kuegele helped his friend Bill by picking up Barb from Love Field. Over the course of a year, Paul and Barbara found out that they were to marry. When Paul returned from Guam, he proposed to Barb through a letter, and they were married on September 28, 1970, at St. Stephens Evangelical and Reformed Church in St. Louis, Missouri. Paul and Barbara made St. Paul Lutheran Church their home church. Barbara confirmed her faith in the Lutheran church on November 22, 1970. She will tell you that after going through the new member classes, she finally fully understood the Gospel. From that day on, she knew where she wanted to be – in Heaven with Jesus for eternity, and she wanted everyone she met to know Him too. Barbara went through the Texas District Evangelism training course in 1974 through St. Paul. Barb had the deepest desire to share Jesus and her faith whenever she could. Paul and Barb served as youth group counselors along with Wes and Leda Landers. She participated in LWML, served as a Stephen Minister, and used her voice to sing God's praises with the St. Paul choir. She loved her St. Paul family deeply.
Paul and Barbara began their family with the birth of their first daughter Amy Elizabeth on January 13, 1974. Barb's lifelong dream came true, she finally became a mom! They added to the family with their second daughter Laura Jean on October 29, 1979, and completed the family with their son, David Carl on April 26, 1982. The Kuegele family was complete as a family of five. Barb loved being a mom to Amy, Laura, and David. She fought for their heart to know and love Jesus more than anything else and encouraged them in everything they did. In addition to her three children, she is also the godparent to five. She embraced being a mom to all children. There were several friends of Laura and David that Barb and Paul took in as their own. Paul and Barbara were married for fifty-four wonderful years.
In His never-failing mercy and love, Almighty God awarded Barbara the crown of everlasting life on December 28, 2024, at the age of 77 years.
Those who remain to grieve her death, yet also to rejoice in her eternal life in heaven, are her husband, Paul; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Josh Velten; her middle daughter, Laura; her youngest son, David; granddaughter and grandsons, Abby, Paul, Jeremiah, and Micah Velten; and her sister Kathy and her husband Vic; and her beloved St. Paul family.
This is the earthly record of Barbara Jean Kuegele. The heavenly record now reads:
"Blessed are they who die in the Lord,
that they may rest from their labor."
"The blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleanses us from all sin."
