Obituary

Betty Dusek Bare of Lowake, Texas passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the age of 72. Betty was born in Ballinger, Texas on January 16, 1942 to Vinc Willie Dusek and Frances Ratchford Dusek. She graduated from Paint Rock High School in 1960 and the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in elementary education. She was proud to be the first woman in the Dusek family to receive a college degree. Betty met her husband Joseph (Joe) Lee Bare while at UT when they shared a ride back to Austin from San Angelo. They were married on September 10, 1963 and welcomed first son Joseph (Jody) Lee Bare, II on September 27, 1964. Betty and Joe settled in Austin where they raised Jody and brother Michael Edward Bare, born October 2, 1970. Betty was an elementary teacher, before serving as a librarian at the Harry R. Ransom Center at the University of Texas. Upon retirement, she and husband Joe built their dream log cabin in Blue Mesa, Colorado. Betty will be remembered for her love of her sons and grandchildren, her "Yorkie Girls," Julie, Fannie and Amy, her cabin in Colorado, cooking, reading, and spending time with family and friends. Betty is survived by her sons Joseph (Jody) Lee Bare, II and wife, Kristi Randel Bare, Michael Edward Bare and wife Suzanna Caldwell-Bare, grandchildren Evan Bare, Cameron Bare, Lydia Bare and Emerson Bare, brother Vinc Willie Dusek, III, sister-in-law June Pierce, nephew Wesley Dusek and family, niece Ida Dusek Booher and family as well as many cousins including Bob Dusek and wife, Nancy, and Calvin Dusek. She is preceded in death by beloved husband Joseph Lee Bare and parents Frances Ratchford Dusek and Vinc Willie Dusek, Jr. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
