Barrett
Valenta
Dec 26, 1942 — Dec 1, 2024
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandma Barrett Valenta, 81, who died in Plano, Texas, on December 1, 2024. We are comforted to know that Barrett is united again with her love, Fred Valenta, who preceded her in death in November 2017. Barrett and Fred met in College Station where she spent a summer at school. Barrett married Fred on June 13, 1964. They were happily married for 53 years.
Barrett leaves behind a daughter, Emily Faith Hendrix; son, Matthew Valenta; daughter-in-law, Meredith Valenta; and three granddaughters, Shannon Valenta, Reagan Valenta and Kelly Valenta. Barrett also leaves behind a brother, John Timm, sister-in-law, Claire Timm, a sister, Donnel Shaw, brother-in-law, John Shaw, and several nieces and nephews. Barrett was preceded in death by her daughter, Theresa Valenta; and granddaughter, Erin Valenta.
Barrett was born in Eagle Pass, Texas in 1942 to loving parents Mildred Timm and Bert Timm, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a 1964 graduate of University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and a 1969 graduate of University of North Texas. For many years, Barrett served as a teacher and a tutor for children with learning disabilities.
Barrett was a kind, sweet soul who loved Jesus above all else. Barrett encouraged others to get to know Him, including volunteering at prison ministries and handing out bible verses at her retirement home. Barrett also loved attending bible studies, playing with her cats, watching birds, and traveling with her husband to the different continents in the world, including Antarctica.
