Donald Thomas Beckey was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on January 11, 1924 and passed away in Plano, Texas on November 1, 2016. Don was a wonderful husband to Darleen for 72 years until Darleen went to heaven on August 8, 2015. Don and Darleen had two daughters, Cheryl and Linda, two grandchildren, Kimberly and Craig, and 3 great grandsons, Josh, Justin and Jacob. Don was the eldest of four. He had one brother, Michael and two sisters, Sally and Nancy (all deceased). Don went into the Merchant Marines right out of high school and served during World War II. He traveled around the world on sea going vessels. He and Darleen married while he was on leave. Don worked for the BNSF (TP&W) Railroad for 30 years as a sales manager. During his tenure with the railroad he lived and worked in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Omaha, Nebraska; Boise, Idaho and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Don and Darleen spent their final years in Plano, Texas. He enjoyed writing and worked for his high school newspaper as well as writing the paper for his church. Don loved sports and played many sports in his younger years: baseball, hockey and football. During his adult years he had a passion for golf. Don and Darleen were very active in their church serving as Sunday School teachers, leaders for the Seniors and Don was a deacon in the church. They loved the Lord and lived their lives following Christ's teachings. A private graveside service with military honors will be held for the family at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery on Monday, November 7, 2016 at 11:15 a.m. Dons beloved wife, Darleen, passed away on August 8, 2015.
