Bernardino "Nino" Torres II, devoted father, cherished husband, loving brother, and generous friend, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026, surrounded by family.

Nino was raised in Junction, Texas, a place that remained close to his heart for the rest of his life no matter where he later called home. He graduated from Junction High School in 1980 and enrolled at Texas State University. In the 1980’s he managed the bar of the legendary Gruene Hall, an experience that fed his lifelong love of music of every kind. That same passion extended to food, which he pursued both professionally in national account sales and marketing positions, and personally as an enthusiastic and generous cook, who found joy in feeding the people he loved. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in hotel and restaurant management from the University of Wisconsin - Stout and a Master’s of Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management.

Above all, Nino loved his family. He was a devoted father to his two children, Alex and Emily, and his love for them shaped everything he did. He was equally devoted as a husband, marrying the love of his life, Ann Candamio Peak, and building a marriage rooted in warmth, generosity, and laughter.

Nino received two kidney transplants in his lifetime, and he carried deep gratitude for both gifts. That gratitude became a driving force in his life, inspiring him to enjoy life to its fullest and raise funds and awareness for the National Kidney Foundation, hoping to give others the same chance he had been given.

Known for his big heart, generous spirit and fun-loving nature, Nino made friends wherever he went. He was also a great animal lover and cat dad to Sheba and Lilah, who kept him company through many movie marathons. He gave freely of his time to his faith as well, volunteering with the Episcopal Church of Transfiguration in Dallas, where he found not only community but friendship and purpose, and to many other causes and charities close to his heart. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Candamio Peak; his daughter, Emily Torres (Lucas Jordan); his son, Alex Torres (Lauren Pady); his granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Torres, whom he lovingly called his "shining jewel"; his step-grandson, Theodore Gonzales; his sisters, Belinda Torres (Ray Gachowsky) and Cordelia Torres-Kessler (Jonathon Escalante); niece, Seychelle Kessler; many dear aunts and cousins; and a wide circle of close friends and church family who will miss him deeply. Nino is proceeded in death by his parents, Bernardino and Anita Torres; mother-in-law, Clarece Candamio; and beloved dog, Frankie.

A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration (14115 Hillcrest Rd., Dallas, TX 75254) on Saturday, August 15th, at 2pm. The service will be livestreamed at https://youtube.com/live/xyDWvD1Cf8Q?feature=share.
