Obituary

Betty Shubinski Brown went into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by her children,at the age of 93 on February 1,2018. She was born,March 8, 1924 to Morris and Mettie Shubinski of Dallas. Mom grew up in University Park where she and her family were charter members of Park cities Baptist Church. She attended Highland Park High school and like she used to say.... Went to Brain University! The love of her life,John E Brown, moved across the street from her on Purdue. He was seven years older than her and he would get off the bus from work and walk to his house. She knew exactly when he would be coming down the street and would make sure she would stand out on the front walk, just in time to innocently give him a little wave. That's when the love of a lifetime began. After dating our dad for a short time,he went off to war. She had opportunities to move to Hollywood, where her best friend,Martha Vickers, was already a movie star and encouraged her to come out also. She declined to go,as she wanted to stay and wait for her love to return from the war. He did,and they got married November 6th,1945. Their love story produced five wonderful children.John Jr., Martha, Lise, Robert and the best child of all.... Christopher. She was a loving and God fearing wife, mama and grandma. She accepted and loved Rachael as her own daughter also. We could go on and on about our beloved mom to fill many pages. But to summarize her life, she loved to laugh, make others laugh and feel her unconditional love. She was a gentle soul with a big heart. She loved the Lord and would always say..... Heaven must be heavenly. Our family was blessed to have such a wonderful mama as you. We love and miss you mama. I'll be seeing you... Only one life, 'twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last. And when I am dying, how happy I'll be, If the lamp of my life has been burned out for Thee In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates your donations in assisting with the cost of funeral arrangements. Please call the funeral home at 469-913-8493 to donate to the Betty Brown Memorial Fund.
