Betty Jean Nicholson

\Betty was born in Chetopa Kansas to Raymond T. Boyd and Goldie (Ventle) Boyd. She was preceded in death by her younger siblings Ruth. Retha, Raymond, Judy and her older 1/2 sibling Luella Mae Boyd.

She attended school in Chetopa, California, Oregon, Washington state and graduated in 1948 From Dewar High School in Oklahoma.

She was a member of rainbow girls and eastern stars in her teen years.

In 1952 she eloped to Bentonville Arkansas to marry Bill Nicholson.

She and Bill moved to Miami Oklahoma/

Betty gave birth to Connie Jean in 1953 and William Henry in 1955.

Betty graduated from N.E. Oklahoma A&M in 1965 and Kansas State college of Pittsburg in 1967. Her degree was in elementary education.

She taught American history and psychology at Miami High 1967-68.

The family then moved to Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The family moved back to Tulsa where she taught 4th grade. She also taught at the elementary level in schools in Cumberland Maryland and Lindale Texas.

Both of her children attended the University of Texas. Connie graduated from the University of Maryland dental school in1979. William graduated from Baylor school of dentistry in 1979.

Bill and Betty retired in 1992 and moved to Plano, Texas. In retirement Bill and Betty enjoyed travel to Hawaii, Washington DC, east and west coast of the USA, Ozarks. west Texas and New Mexico.

They spent most of their retirement remodeling their home and Betty really enjoyed her extensive flower garden.

Bill passed away in 2017

Betty stayed in their home until 2022. She was then cared for at Dayspring Assisted Living in Plano Texas.

Her survivors include daughter Connie, son William and daughter-in-law Valerie. All survivors reside in Plano Texas.
