Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Crystal Lee Bryant (nee Ragsdale) announces her passing in Fort Worth, Texas, after a brief illness, on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at the age of 70 years. She was born in Abilene, Texas, to the late Loy and Raye Ragsdale. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1961 as an honor student and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. A cheerleader, she married Michael Ed Bryant, a star Abilene High football player, of Abilene, Texas, who preceded her in death. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Leah "Shelley" (Jim) of Sugarcreek Township, Ohio, and Brennan (Alex) of Irving, Texas; by her grandsons, Christopher and Zachary, of Sugarcreek Township; by her brother, Kirk, of Fort Worth; by her aunt, Dorris, of Abilene, Texas; by her brothers- and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews; and by her beloved dog, Bandita. Crystal retired as a public affairs manager from the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association in 2005 after 20 years of outstanding service. Prior to that, she worked for Percival Tours, where she received an Addy Award for copywriting. She traveled the world during her career, including trips to Singapore, England and the Bahamas. An educated woman with refined tastes, she read at least two newspapers daily, sending myriad clippings to family and friends. Many will remember her for her great knowledge of football (she watched the pre- and post-shows, listened to radio commentaries and rooted for the Dallas Cowboys) and her strong liberal Democratic values. An accomplished seamstress, she always "dressed to the nines" and modeled in her 20s. She was an avid contract bridge player for many years. Crystal and Michael kept a beautiful, sunny home that was envied by visitors and their flowers were a focal piece of the neighborhood. She was cremated at the Aria Cremation and Funeral Home in Irving, Texas. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Those who desire to do so may make memorial donations in Crystal's name to her favorite charities, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County. Arrangements are under the direction of: Aria Cremation Service & Funeral Home 1820 N Belt Line Road Irving, Texas 75061 972.607.4400
