Lloyd George Carpenter passed away February 2, 2015 after a lengthy battle with leukemia. Lloyd was born July 17, 1932 in Trinity, TX to George and Sweet Carpenter. Lloyd graduated from Trinity High School in May 1949. After high school, Lloyd attended Sam Houston State University and then enlisted in the United States Air Force in October 1951 and retired with 22 years of active duty in 1973. He was very proud of his service to our country. Lloyd graduated with a BBA in accounting from Angelo State University and received the Dow Jones Award from faculty of the School of Business. He then started a new career with Mobil Oil in 1975 retiring in July of 1993. Lloyd continued to work part time with the Collin County Elections Office for several years. Lloyd was a member of First United Methodist Church of Plano and was very proud to have had the honor to teach the Morphis Sunday School Class for several years. He was also very involved in many Masonic organizations and was dedicated to that fraternity. Lloyd is survived by his loving wife, Alma (Bryant) whom he married on September 10, 1966 in England (twice on the same day), his son Bill, and wife Jill, of McKinney, grandchildren Kenton Tindall of Houston, Jessica Carpenter, Joshua Carpenter, and Christopher Carpenter of McKinney, and a brother Wayne Carpenter, and wife Marilyn, of Aurora Colorado. A Memorial Service with reception to follow will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church of Plano at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Plano.
