JUNE REIPE CASEY
(October 24, 1920 - January 15, 2017)
June R. Casey, 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, January 15, 2017. She was born on Oct. 24, 1920, in Lackawanna, NY, to Raymond and Marjorie Reipe. It was during the Roaring 20s, Prohibition and the Womens Right to Vote. She attended Seton Hill and DYouville College, where she earned a degree in business, the first college graduate of her family. She became an assistant administrator at the aircraft manufacturer Curtiss Wright, Buffalo, and within six months had her boss job. She married the late John J. Casey in 1945 and became an airline executives wife, traveling the world. She instilled a love of travel and adventure in her four children, who all lived and worked overseas.
June loved collecting antiques, including an impressive collection of shorebird decoys. Each morning, June completed the New York Times crossword puzzle in ink, and was an avid tennis, bridge and Skipbo player. As a Eucharistic minister at St. Ritas Church, she took communion to nursing homes, and was treasurer of her Bible Study. She also went to daily mass and loved going on retreats at Montserrat Jesuit Retreat House. June was a founding member of Northwood Republican Women and a member of Northwood Womens Club.
Her four children, spouses, and seven grandchildren will always cherish the memory of June reading "The Night Before Christmas" every Christmas Eve. And, they still hear her "Momisms" in their heads: "This too shall pass," "Each to his own taste said the lady as she kissed the cow," and "Count your blessings." (She was our blessing!) At the end of her life, she sang to us "I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck." We love you, too, Mom! John, David, Janet and Mary June Casey is survived by her children: John and wife Fran, David and wife Diana, Janet and husband Neal and Mary, as well as seven grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, her parents and her brother Bob. A Memorial Mass and Reception will be held at 1 pm, Monday, January 23, at All Saints Church, 5231 Meadowcreek Drive, Dallas. Donations can be made to: The June Casey Memorial or to the White Rose Womens Center. Arrangements are under the direction of: ARIA Cremation Service & Funeral Home 19310 Preston Road, Dallas, Texas 75252 214-306-6700
