Obituary

Catherin (Katy) Elizabeth Foster Richardson, beloved mother, daughter, and friend, passed away on October 16, 2024 at the age of 50. Born on April 24, 1974, at Fort Eisenhower in Augusta, Georgia, Katy was the cherished daughter of Barbara Haines and Charles Foster.

Katy grew up in Follett, Texas, where she graduated with honors from Follett High School. She began her college journey at Wayland Baptist University before transferring to the University of Texas at Austin. There, she found her passion for journalism, graduating in 1996 with a Bachelor's degree. Katy went on to build a successful career as an editor and copywriter, most recently at Neiman Marcus, where her talents and dedication were widely admired.

Katy's kindness and thoughtfulness left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Known for her thoughtful gestures, from showing up for loved ones to sending heartfelt, handwritten notes, Katy was a steadfast and caring presence. She was passionate about many causes, including women's rights, animal welfare, politics, and education, and championed these with conviction.

Katy's greatest joy was her family, especially her sons, William Tate Richardson (15) and Andrew Nash Richardson (12), whom she shared with her former husband, Brian Richardson of Dallas. In addition to her family, she cherished her dear friends, including her best friend Ben McClenagan. Katy was also deeply influenced by her college friend, Karena Perkins, who predeceased her but left a lasting mark on her life and heart.

Katy was preceded in death by her parents, Barbara Haines and Charles Foster. She will be profoundly missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate to know her.
