Obituary

Catherine Schleicher Baume, 81, passed away on December 18, 2025, in McKinney, Texas. She was born on Aug 24,1944 in Detroit, Michigan.

Cathy was the beloved wife of Alfred H. Baume II and the devoted mother of Alexander Carl Baume, Benjamin Harris Baume, Suzie Ann Dittman, and Caroline Faye Ast. She was a proud grandmother to 11 adoring grandchildren, who were a constant source of joy in her life. She became a true loving sister to Al's siblings, Carol Baume and the late Dorothy Baume. She was preceded in death by her brothers, David Schleicher and Paul Schleicher.

Cathy grew up in Dearborn, Michigan, and graduated from Dearborn High School in 1963. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan in 1967. In 1966, she married Alfred Baume, beginning a marriage she cherished. The couple eventually made their home in Plano, Texas, where they built a life centered on family, creativity, and deep affection for one another.

Cathy also pursued her many artistic passions. She loved painting and watercolors and enjoyed sewing in many forms. She was perhaps best known, however, as a quilter extraordinaire, creating beautiful works for her home and family members.

Unfailingly positive, Cathy focused on the best in everyone. She was generous with her time, her talents, and her wise counsel, offering steady encouragement and practical guidance. A natural problem-solver, she approached life with calm competence and grace. Above all, she found deep joy in her family and her husband, Alfred, whose partnership and companionship meant the world to her. Her legacy lives on in the family she treasured and the many lives she touched.
