Bob passed away on June 12, 2024, after a two-year struggle with multiple medical issues. He was 80 years old. He was born in Tulsa, OK, on May 25, 1944, to Cecil and Pauline Rainwater. He grew up in Tulsa and attended Nathan Hale High School. Bob graduated from The University of Tulsa in 1966 with a degree in Political Science. Afterwards, he moved to Dallas to attend the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University. After graduating in 1969, Bob began his law career at Thompson & Knight, in Dallas. He continued practicing in Dallas until his retirement in 2004.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, and both sets of grandparents. He is survived by his long-time partner, Linda Powell Mock of Dallas; son, Brandon David Rainwater of Indian Land, SC; granddaughter Carly Dale Rainwater, of Indian Land, SC; grandson, Jake Alexander Rainwater of Charlotte, NC; sister, Lynda McCartney (Frank) of Fort Worth; niece, Shannon Henry (Phillip) of Arlington; nephew, Scott McCartney (Jodi) of Fort Worth; great nieces London McCartney, Sullivan Morales (Jonathan), and Maddison Rosenthal and her children, Cecil and Ophelia.
Bob participated in and contributed to many good causes including: The Stewpot, Habitat for Humanity, The North Texas Food Bank, Heifer International and the SPCA. Bob enjoyed travel, reading, the NYT crossword puzzle, the English language, music and writing poetry. He enjoyed cooking and sharing a meal with friends.
We would like to give considerable thanks to Bob's many caregivers over the last year: Ebony Howard, Randy Garratt, Janiece Barnes, Camille, Mavis and Arcy at Home.
A private distribution of Bob's ashes will be held in the future to celebrate Bob's life.
