Chang Kyeom
Chase Kim
Mar 31, 1978 — May 18, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Chang Kyeom Chase Kim, who departed this life on May 18, 2025 in McKinney, Texas, at the age of 47 after a 14 month battle with cancer. A devoted husband, loving father, dedicated teacher, and accomplished martial artist, Chang Kyeom lived a life defined by discipline, generosity, and quiet strength.
Born and raised in Chung-Ju City, South Korea, Chang Kyeom pursued his passion for martial arts at the prestigious Yong-In University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Martial Arts. His exceptional skill and dedication led him to join the South Korean National Tae Kwon Do Demonstration Team, through which he traveled the world inspiring others and showcasing the beauty, power, and philosophy of Tae Kwon Do.
After moving to North Texas, Chang Kyeom founded and led a successful martial arts school where he mentored over 1,000 students. His impact extended far beyond the dojang—he shaped lives, instilled confidence, and cultivated champions, coaching athletes to success at local, state, and national levels. His legacy as a teacher and coach is profound and enduring.
Outside the studio, Chang Kyeom found joy in playing golf and spending meaningful time with his family, whom he cherished above all else.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Faith, and their three sons: Ryan, Nicholas, and Leo. He will be deeply missed by his family, students, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him.
A private celebration of Chang Kyeom's life will be held at Gateway Funeral and Cremation Home on May 29, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in his memory to the EGFR Resisters - egfrcancer.org .
