Obituary

Charlie Jennings Garrison

August 28, 1934 – August 28, 2025

Charlie Jennings Garrison, age 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Euless, Texas on Thursday, August 28, 2025—on his birthday.

Born in Gore, Oklahoma, Charlie spent his early years in Oklahoma and Arkansas before settling in Texas, where he became a proud resident of the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. At just 17, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving seven years full-time in Infantry Radio Repair. He continued his military service in the Army Reserves for 23 more years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant.

Charlie earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Central State College in Oklahoma and went on to work for NASA in Houston, contributing to the Gemini, Saturn, and Apollo missions. Later, he joined American Airlines in Fort Worth, retiring at age 61.

A Master Mason of the Knox-Corinthian Lodge in Downtown Dallas, Charlie was active until his later years in life. In retirement, he pursued wood carving with passion, participating in carving groups across DFW and showcasing his work in regional competitions.

Charlie is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Alice Capeheart Garrison; children William Dennis Garrison (and Calliope Elizabeth Lee Booth), Earl Albert Garrison (and Kelli Nicole Krieg Garrison), Chara Lee Garrison Moore (and Jeff Moore), Kimberly Clingenpeel (and Philip Hegg), and Harold Dale Marks (and Nelda Marks); grandchildren Cameron, Chase, Carter, Christopher, Rob, Emma, Mike, Zachary, Vincent, and Sierra; and nephew Patrick Garrison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Jennings Garrison and Ruth Ann Elizabeth Breedlove Garrison; brother Wilson Riley Garrison; and sons Wilson Ralph Garrison and Brian Keith Marks.
