Clifton Wayne
Hawk
Apr 18, 1957 — Dec 31, 2019
On Tuesday, December 31, 2019, Dr. Clifton Hawk, loving son, husband, father, and grandfather (Poppy!) passed away at the age of 62, after a three year struggle following a severe stroke in 2017 just in time to see the New Year's Eve fireworks from heaven! Cliff was born on April 18, 1957 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Billy and Barbara (King) Hawk. He graduated from UNT in 1980, and graduated from Baylor Dental School in 1984 and had a successful dental practice in Denton, Texas until his stroke in 2017. On July 4, 2012, he married Kimberly Wells. They loved sharing their children and grandchildren with each other. Jackie Kelly of Texarkana, Arkansas was his first wife, good friend, and mother of their son, Hunter. Diane Wilson of Denton, Texas (bless her heart) was his second wife, and mother of their daughter, Annah. Cliff loved to eat, drink, and be merry! He and Kim traveled together and lived life fully even while facing death. Cliff loved hanging out in Denton – drinking beer at Eastside, eating burgers at Rooster's, listening to Twilight Tunes at "the castle," spending time with his Study Group pals, and attending the Arts and Jazz Fest every Spring. He was known all over town and was loved by those that knew him. Throughout his dental career, he helped countless patients that will miss him greatly. Cliff started and was the driving force behind TWU Cares Program. He donated his time and services to First Refuge Denton Dental Office, and was the UNT Sports' dentist for many years. Cliff is survived by his wife, Kim; his son, Hunter; his daughter, Annie; his brother, Shannon; his sister-in-law, Sherrie; and their three children, Molly, Carter, and Sammy; his stepdaughter, Chelsea; his grandchildren, Bailey, Sam, Connor, and Carolyn; his father, Billy; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Cliff was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara. A Celebration of Cliff's Life will be held Friday, January 31, 2020, at noon at Eastside Beer Garden, 117 East Oak Street, Denton, Texas, 76201, with food being provided by Fletcher's Corny Dogs! In lieu of flowers, contributions to Serve Denton or Hearts for Homes would be greatly appreciated.
