Constance Mercer Rodgers, 71, passed away recently and went to be home with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Born in Virginia on October 14th, 1951 to Thomas and Dorothy Mercer, Connie, as she was commonly known, grew up in San Antonio and attended MacArthur High School. Upon graduation, she held various jobs such as working for the U.S. Customs, but her longest and most fulfilling role was that of a stay at home mother to her children Michael, Kenny and Julie. After growing up in San Antonio, she spent time raising her family in the greater Houston, Tyler and Dallas areas. She was frequently an active member in church and some of her fondest memories were summer vacations with the family to Pine Cove Christian Camp. She was also very creative, which was evident in her skilled ability to paint and garden, amongst other hobbies and interests.
Survivors include her mother Dorothy Mercer, former husband Roger Rodgers, son Michael Rodgers and wife Lori, son Kenny Rodgers and wife Anne, daughter Julie Rodgers and five grandchildren. Connie was preceded in death by her father Thomas Mercer and brother Tim Mercer.
Services will be held on Monday, February 13th at 1:00pm at Watermark Community Church located at 7540 Lyndon B Johnson Fwy, Dallas, TX 75251. A reception for those that wish to attend will immediately follow the service.
