Daniel William Moran, 62, of Dallas TX passed away on May 2, 2024 in Medical City Plano surrounded by his family. He died from complications of a severe lung infection.
Dan was born December 13, 1961 along with his twin sister Kathy in Lakewood, California. He was the eleventh of twelve children born to Margaret and Edward Moran. He attended St. Pancratius Catholic School until he was nine when the family purchased a dairy farm in a remote part of southwestern Missouri. The Moran family moved there in 1970 to get out of the smog in Los Angeles. Life was drastically different on the dairy farm.
Dan attended Southwest Missouri State University receiving a bachelor's degree in Electronic Data Processing. He began his career in Dallas, TX as an EDP auditor at US Life Corporation before moving to LTV Corporation and then Foxmeyer Drug Company. He later formed ProMor Electronic Components with a partner. After selling his share of the company, he went into business with another partner and formed Odyssey Paintball Co.
While at US Life, he was introduced to Cindy Wegenhoft by mutual friends. They were married in 1989 and raised three sons together, William Moran, Elliott Moran, and Mitchell Moran.
Dan was an avid runner and fitness enthusiast participating in several marathons and many other running events throughout the years. He was at the gym early in the morning almost every day of the week enjoying the many friendships he made there. When his sons were young, he enjoyed coaching their sports teams and all the friendships that were made through his sons.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Patrick Moran, John Moran, and Peter Moran and niece Andrea Russell. He is survived by his wife, Cindy, and sons William, Elliott and Mitchell. He is also survived by siblings Edward Moran and wife Jill, Peggy Bullough and husband Fred, James Moran and wife Leslie, Fr. Michael Moran, Francis Moran and wife Laura, Joseph Moran and wife Lyn, Kevin Moran and wife Trish, and twin sister Kathy Moran. He is also survived by sister in laws Karen Moran, Patrick's wife, and Teresa Moran, John's wife. He is also survived by brothers in law Curt Wegenhoft and wife Allison and Carl Wegenhoft. He is also survived by 20 nieces and nephews and 25 great nieces and nephews.
Dan was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend who will be missed. Dan's life will be celebrated at a later date.
