Darlene M. Karr, age 89, of Douglasville, GA, passed away peacefully on Monday March 23,2026. She was born in Jackson County, WI. in 1936 and was fiercely proud of her Norwegian heritage and midwestern roots. She was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, and husband Robert L. Karr. She is survived by her two children, Julie Busse and John Busse: two stepdaughters, Susan Hughes and Kathy Sutton; and other relatives and friends who were dearly loved. Included in that extended family are Kim Han Do and Oanh Do whom she sponsored as refugees and who continued to call her mom for 50 years. Darlene was an excellent cook and had a perpetual green thumb when it came to growing fruits and vegetables in her garden which she loved to share with others. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church serving in the choir, Women's Circle, and Stephen Ministry. She loved animals and spent many hours caring for the cats and critters on her homestead. The family wishes to express gratitude to the Monarch and Merit Hospice staff for their care and kindness during her illness.
